Hi. I'm Aisha and I'm the External Marketing Manager for George.
After reading Media Studies and Psychology at De Montfort University my first job was as an Account Executive for the publishing agency that produced the ASDA magazine.
I worked on the George section of the magazine for a year and a half, and loved working with the brand so much I decided to join the team.
My current role involves working with creative agencies to produce everything from press ads to TV commercials, the fashion pages in the ASDA magazine and any other specific fashion supplements we create.
A typical day will see me attending a meeting with one of our agencies to brief them on a new ad campaign and to review their work on other projects. Often I also then approve their choice of photographer or models for the shoots, always keeping a tight rein on the budget and making sure we hit all the critical deadlines for the job.
It's an exciting and creative environment to work in and it involves a lot of travel. Most of our agencies are in London so I'll usually stay there a couple of nights each week and often I'll go on location shoots too. The furthest I've travelled so far has been to Cape Town - glamorous, but a lot of hard work!
I'd say that to do my job well I need to be dedicated and resilient to pressure.
I can't think of another job which would have given me so much responsibility so quickly - but as someone whose ambition is to become Head of Marketing one day, the more I can gain, the better.
