Hi. My name's Carl and I'm a Store Designer for George.

That means I'm responsible for everything from how the stores look to the way we display the clothes - basically creating an environment where customers feel comfortable and just can't resist buying!

I haven't always done this job though. When I first started out with ASDA in 1997 I was a George Manager. I really enjoyed this but when I saw a role advertised at George House that would allow me to make an impact on the look of the stores across the nation, I leapt at the chance.

I'd say the best part of the role is the sheer variety of it. It can involve anything from meeting with new suppliers, searching for new display techniques, making store visits to checking out what our competitors are doing or working on our own exciting new design concepts.

It's a role which needs real attention to detail, and a real understanding of retail environments and what makes people want to buy. There's a different challenge every day so you have to always be up for it. Luckily my team and I always are!
