Hello, I'm Hayley and I'm an Assistant Branch Merchandiser at George Home Office in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

I joined the company in 2005 after a friend who I used to work with recommended George to me. I worked in the construction industry previously so I was surprised to learn that my skills were also suited to roles within George, a fashion retailer.

I had previously been involved with a lot of office administration; raising purchase orders, logistics, tracking stock orders and so on. So the transition into Branch Merchandising was quite seamless.

As a Branch Merchandiser my average day would include considering the daily sales for my department, for example looking at how Schoolwear is selling across all the stores. If I notice any fantastic sales or any poor sales, it's important to take action to make sure the stock is there to support the stores to maximise their sales or minimise the risks.

The role is store focused and you get a great sense of achievement when you can see how you've helped a store to maximise its potential, and it's great to celebrate those successes with my team.

If you're organised, enjoy problem solving, are good with numbers, and more importantly like understanding what those numbers mean, then you'll be suited to this role. It's a varied role and a challenging environment, but everyone gets involved which makes George a great place to work.
