My name is Helen and I'm a graphic / print Designer for George Childrenswear.
I've worked here since 2004, after I relocated from London to be closer to my family. Before joining I had worked for a George supplier so I knew all about George and our customers. I knew it would be a good place to work so when an opportunity arose, I leapt at the chance.
I'd always wanted to work in Childrenswear and as a mum myself, I know how important it is to be able to buy good-looking, hard wearing clothes which don't cost the earth.
A lot of my time is spent at the computer working on the season's styles but there's also a lot of searching for inspiration too, everywhere from fashion shows, to magazines and from keeping an eye on what people are wearing on the street.
Childrenswear is a fantastic area to work on. It gives me the challenge of being both creative and commercially aware. This means that sometimes I find I come up with ideas which are even better than if I had a completely open brief and an unlimited budget.
The biggest kick I get is when I take my daughter to the playground and see kids out playing and having fun in a print I helped to design.
