I'm Mahir and I'm a Sourcing Manager for George.

I've been with George for over 10 years now. Before that I worked for a manufacturer who supplied George. I used to meet our Buyers who were fantastic, so I decided to apply to join the company.

My first role was as an Assistant Merchandiser on ladies' swimwear and accessories. From there I moved through various departments and was very involved in the launch of one of our new brands in 2008.

I've been in my role since 2006. I find the best suppliers who can work to the highest quality at the lowest prices so we can continue to save our customers money.

Every day I have to negotiate with suppliers and I'm lucky to have been given a lot of training in this skill whilst I've been working at George. I have to be organised, have a good head for figures and really understand the manufacturing processes used by our suppliers.

What I really like about my job is working alongside a great sourcing team who make it a really supportive place to be. There's a different challenge every day, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
