With suppliers worldwide producing millions of items a year, coming to us by air, sea and road, the team has to make sure that deliveries from manufacturers reach our Distribution Centres before being sent out to our stores to arrive in the right place, at the right time, in perfect condition.

Not only that, they also have to manage the flow of George products to make sure delivery through the supply chain happens in the most cost effective and efficient way possible. It's all part of the process that ensures both affordability and availability - exactly what our customers want and expect.

Within Logistics and Supply, the Sourcing team also has a vital role to play in managing and monitoring our Supplier base. If we're going to be placing huge volume orders with manufacturers for products such as jeans or underwear, we need to be sure the supplier can deliver great product and meet our ethical standards. The sourcing team identifies suppliers who tick all the boxes. They also support the Buyers and Merchandisers in getting the best price for garments by looking at every element of how the garment is constructed and seeing where costs might be reduced. They even look at how we freight products from the supply base into our stores, and how we manage our shipping to get the most efficient container loads transported to the UK.
