It’s as much about you choosing us, as us choosing you

Application Process

We have tried to keep this as simple as possible, so if you follow the steps outlined below you should be on the right track!

Step one

Have a good look around this site and find out about George. It's really worth taking the time to learn about our fantastic business and its unique culture.
You can do this at the George experience and also by visiting your local store.

Step two

If you think George is right for you then why not search through our current opportunities by visiting the 'search and apply' button in the top right. This will take you through to the job search section where you can search for jobs in your local area, create an account and if the department you're interested in isn't currently recruiting for the position you want, you can set up a 'job alert' and we'll email you automatically to tell you when a suitable position becomes available.

Once you've created an account you can also save any jobs you're interested in to your 'job basket' so you can come back to them later! Just make sure you take note of the closing date so that you apply in time!

Step three

When you've found a job that's right for you can either save it in your 'job basket' and come back to it later or you can apply straight away. When you do apply you'll be guided through the process and just like a standard application form, this involves you telling us your details, your experience, a bit more about your interests and why you'd like to work with us. You'll then complete a verbal, a numerical and finally a personality test. This is nothing to worry about, it simply helps us to gather all the information we need to understand whether we'd be right for you and whether you'd be right for us. You'll need at least 35-distraction-free-minutes to do this and a good internet connection. All of the information you give us will be absolutely confidential.

Step four

Once you've applied, your application will be assessed and if you're successful you'll be invited to attend an interview or one of our selection events if applying for one of our Degree, Placement or Graduate opportunities. Interviews tend to last an hour so allow a good hour and a half just in case you impress! Selection events can be a whole or half a day, during the day you will take part in a series of activities - in pairs, in groups and on your own - as well as having an interview.

The whole day is based around our beliefs and our leadership behaviours and is designed to:

  • Help us understand if you will be successful in George
  • Help you understand what working at George is really like.

Finally if we do choose you, and you choose us, the final stage is to be interviewed by a senior leader in the business.

If you need any further information about our application process then please have a look at our FAQs section which contains the most commonly asked questions about the application process.

Remember we will be communicating with you by email throughout so please check your emails regularly, and also please ensure that you check your 'junk' email folder just in case our email has gone into there by mistake.
