Right product. Right place. Right cost. Right time.

Merchandising is one of the most critical roles in George. It keeps the business lean, efficient and capable of delivering great value. Merchandisers work side by side with Buyers, managing the department's budget and ensuring profit targets are met. They analyse sales performance and stock levels, ensuring continued availability of best sellers and limiting our exposure to ranges that sell less well.

Essentially, it's their job to make sure the right product is in the right place, at the right time and at the right cost. That's quite a complex juggling act, especially when there's a sudden 'spike' in demand caused by, say, a heat wave or some unexpected event.

They make sure there's a sensible spread of suppliers so all our eggs aren't in one basket. That way, they can ensure the security of the supply chain and make savings without compromising either quality or service.

Keeping our finger on the pulse

As a Branch Merchandiser your role is to ensure that sales are maximised and that opportunities are seized when sales are booming, through replenishment. This involves allocating stock to the stores, helping with line queries, planning, launching, availability, looking after new stores, and dealing with any upcoming offers.

Where sales under-perform you would investigate issues and visit stores in order to understand why our customers liked one product over another.
