Shaping the customer experience

It's no good having the best products in the world to sell if the experience of buying them doesn't match up. That's where Store Planning and Design play such a critical role. Our stores are the most vital part of the whole business. It's where our customers buy our clothes and the way the stores look and feel defines our brand and shapes the customer experience.

Our Store Development team based at George House is responsible for this look and feel - the layout and the space allocation for George within Asda stores. This team owns our ambitious Store Change Programme, which includes new store openings and refreshing the current stores.

Creating the 'Wow' factor

From planning the space for George products within the store, to creating the 'Wow' factor for our customers our retail experts have a vital role to play. Store Planners look at design from a 2D perspective and plot a customer's journey through the store. Store Designers have a more conceptual role encompassing the whole shopping environment, from lighting to the different ways that fashions are displayed.

Our Store Development Team's prime objective is to help our customers' enjoy shopping with us. However, they have to make it really easy for their store colleagues to implement as well. Store communication is a vital part of the job, working together every day to give our customers the best shopping experience possible.
