What's more, your card is also welcomed in our Wal*Mart stores worldwide, which is great if you're thinking of going on holiday!
On top of all our other benefits we've an annual colleague discretionary bonus scheme. The bonus scheme is designed to recognise and reward our colleagues for their valued contribution throughout the bonus year and their continued contribution to the business. As long as you meet the length of service and individual performance criteria you'll be eligible to receive a bonus payment.
At George we value our colleagues and we understand that we all have so many demands on our time that it can be impossible to fit everything in with our normal working lives.

Once a year colleagues with 6 months service are invited to join the ASDA Share Save scheme. With Share Save you decide how much to save (between £5 and £250) every four weeks, which goes straight into your own account. After saving for three years you can choose to receive your savings plus a tax-free bonus, or you can use the money you've saved to buy discounted Wal*Mart shares. Since 1994, over 200,000 colleagues have benefited from Share Save. In 2008, we paid out nearly £38 million to 17,000 colleagues who planned to spend their cash on anything from horses, to shark dives to laser eye treatment!
Every year we produce a colleague Benefits Book featuring special deals and savings for colleagues on a whole range of national and local things including days out to theme parks, discounted new cars and fantastic savings on your family holiday. You can take the children to Chester Zoo for free, get in shape at a David Lloyd Club and save up to £200 on the joining fee or save up to 25% on airport parking next time you go on holiday. For only 10p a week, you can join the ASDA Law Club. This is an invaluable service, which could come to the rescue if you ever find yourself needing legal advice, maybe over a car accident, a disagreement with a neighbour or a store which has sold you faulty goods. Membership means you'll save money on potentially expensive legal fees and a 24 hour legal helpline is there to give instant advice and support.

Service Heroes is our company-wide recognition scheme, which gives us all a chance to recognise outstanding individual performance, as well as giving our customers an opportunity to highlight great service.
Each business area nominates a monthly Service Hero who receives a Golden Reward Card. This could result in the colleague receiving cinema tickets, a meal out and even a holiday! At the end of the year, one Service Hero is selected for each workplace and then nominated into the regional finals.
Regional winners are then invited to attend the glamorous ASDA Oscars where they're wined, dined and introduced by a celebrity compere - in the past these have been Ian Wright and Peter Kay! Then the overall Service Hero of the year is named on the night. The overall winner for 2007 was Saf Ali, an Optometrist from our Mansfield store. Saf saved a little girl's life by diagnosing a brain tumour during an eye test. Well done Saf!
Andy Bond is ASDA's CEO and uses his suggestion scheme to encourage all colleagues within the business to put their ideas forward about how to make the business even more successful. If any of the submitted ideas are adopted by the business, colleagues can be sure that their contribution will be recognised.
One of the main ways we measure our success as an employer is by the length of time that colleagues stay with us.
We're proud to display the number of years we've worked for the company on our name badge and milestones in long service are always congratulated locally and even nationally. Each year in November we hold a special celebration lunch for all our colleagues who have completed 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years' service.
